Jewish Women’s Foundation Grants

The Jewish Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit (JWF) announced their grants for the 2023 Grant Cycle. JWF creates opportunities and makes an impact on women in the international community as well as our local one. This grant cycle was focused on Israel and Diaspora Overseas.

A total of $113,000 is being granted to the following Israel and Overseas organizations.

Platforma An Activist Theatre: Training Workshop for Israelis by women who have suffered domestic violence and have been through the police system; the program will train the officers to conduct investigations that conform to the woman’s emotional state.

Women’s Opportunity Fund of Ukraine, Project Kesher: Supporting Ukrainian women’s businesses (95% with displaced families) so they can support their families.

IT Works – Single Mother’s Economic Advancement Program: Designed as an on-ramp for low-income women to gain higher paying jobs in the tech sector, leading to financial independence and improved outcomes for their families.

Nevet: Addressing Food Insecurity by providing break-fast (sandwiches) every morning for an entire school year for 234 girls from disadvantaged areas in Israel’s social and geographic periphery.

Ethiopian National Project, ENP Space (School Performance and Community Empowerment): Providing assistance to increase the number of Israeli high school girls to pass all matriculation exams; improve the level of achievement in these tests; and reduce overt and covert dropout rates. This includes individualized plans for the year, supplementary instruction for students, parent workshops and extracurricular activities.

Yozmot Atid: Assisting 25 underprivileged women in financial distress to grow and develop small businesses providing tools, guidance and coaching.

The Jewish Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit advances social change by expanding opportunities for Jewish women, their families and community.
